Ken Urker Partner: His On-and-Off Relationship With Gypsy Rose Blanchard

Ken Urker’s most significant partner was Gypsy Rose Blanchard, a relationship that spanned nearly a decade, survived multiple breakups, and produced a daughter before his death on October 1, 2026, his 34th birthday.

The two were not married at the time of his death, but the exact status of their relationship remains a matter of conflicting reports. Some outlets described Urker as Blanchard’s boyfriend or partner, while others referred to him as her ex-fiancé. Blanchard herself called him her “soulmate” in her tribute.

How the Relationship Began

Urker first contacted Blanchard in 2017 after watching the HBO documentary Mommy Dead and Dearest, which examined her relationship with her late mother, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard. He sent her a letter of support while she was incarcerated at the Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri, serving a 10-year sentence for her role in her mother’s 2015 murder.

Blanchard wrote back, and the correspondence quickly became romantic. “We became fast friends,” Blanchard recalled in a 2019 interview. “It was pretty soon after that that we started talking on the phone. We would spend hours on the phone. I talked to him like I had known him my whole life and vice versa”.

The Prison Proposal and Breakup

During a prison visit in October 2018, Urker proposed with a silver band that Blanchard later said was confiscated by prison guards. The engagement ended in 2019.

Urker later explained that the breakup was influenced by outside voices. He said he had listened to a Dr. Phil podcast and had “a lot of people in my ear just telling me that the best thing I can do for her is to give her some time to build a self-identity that she’s never been able to build before”.

Years Apart and a Prison Marriage

During their separation, Blanchard married Ryan Scott Anderson, a special education teacher, in a prison ceremony in July 2022. Blanchard later admitted to Anderson that she had spoken to Urker three weeks before their wedding, prompting Anderson to say he felt like “second fiddle”.

Blanchard was released from prison in December 2023 after serving roughly seven years of her 10-year sentence.

The Reconciliation

Blanchard separated from Anderson in March 2024, just three months after her release, and filed for divorce the following month. By April 2024, she and Urker had reconnected.

“The very first weekend of April [2024] is when I came to visit her for the first time after she had gotten out. We spent that weekend together and had an incredible time,” Urker said.

Blanchard described the reconnection as a realization that their bond had endured. “Ken and I have kept a friendship this whole time,” she said. “It wasn’t until I filed for divorce that I kind of really realized that that spark, that connection [with Urker] is even better than I expected”.

A Daughter and a Final Separation

Blanchard announced her pregnancy with Urker’s child in July 2024. Their daughter, Aurora Raina Urker, was born on December 28, 2024, exactly one year after Blanchard’s release from prison.

The couple documented their relationship on Lifetime’s Gypsy Rose: Life After Lockup, but they had separated again by late 2026. Reports indicated the split stemmed from legal complications regarding paternity laws related to Blanchard’s divorce from Anderson.

Blanchard’s Tribute

Following Urker’s death, Blanchard described him as “an amazing father and a man who was deeply loved.” She said he would “forever be my soulmate and my red string, a connection that time, distance, and even death can never erase”.

Blanchard claimed Urker had been “relentlessly cyberbullied” and subjected to an “unimaginable level of public scrutiny” during their relationship. “The cruelty directed toward him was something no human being should have to endure,” she said.

Regarding their daughter, Blanchard vowed to “make sure she grows up knowing how deeply her father loved her and who he was beyond what strangers on the internet chose to say about him”.
