PARIS — Lisa Bonet has spent the better part of two decades doing something rare in Hollywood: living a quiet life. But on October 3, 2026, the famously private actress stepped back into the spotlight for the first time in four years, sitting front row at Celine’s Paris Fashion Week show and reminding the world why she remains one of the most captivating figures of her generation.
The 58-year-old actress, best known for playing Denise Huxtable on The Cosby Show and the first season of A Different World, looked radiant in a tan coat over a chic black ensemble, her signature waist-length silver locs drawing attention across the fashion world.
Lisa Bonet’s Rare Paris Fashion Week Appearance
Bonet’s appearance at the Celine show marked her first major public event since 2022. She sat front row alongside other celebrities and spoke with Harper’s Bazaar about her admiration for the fashion house’s creative director, Michael Rider.
“I love what Michael’s doing,” Bonet said. “He’s brought just a freshness and a relevance. Fashion can just feel so extreme sometimes, or just out of people’s leagues, and where are you going to wear these things? But that’s what really caught my attention, not just about this collection, but the previous ones he’s done.”
She added: “It just feels wearable and elegant and special. I’m excited to put something elegant on.”
The Quiet Family Life She Built
Bonet’s retreat from the spotlight was deliberate. After leaving A Different World following its first season and departing The Cosby Show in 1991, she stepped back from Hollywood to focus on raising her daughter, Zoë Kravitz, whom she shares with ex-husband Lenny Kravitz.
She later welcomed two children with actor Jason Momoa: daughter Lola, born in 2007, and son Nakoa-Wolf, born in 2008. The couple married in October 2017 after more than a decade together, but announced their split in January 2022. Their divorce was finalized in July 2024.
Despite the end of their marriage, Bonet and Momoa have remained committed co-parents. In June 2026, they reunited publicly for Lola’s high school graduation at California State University in Los Angeles, posing together with their 18-year-old daughter. Momoa has said the family remains close: “We’re a family. We have two beautiful children.”
Why She Won’t Return to A Different World
Bonet’s A Different World legacy has resurfaced in a major way thanks to Netflix’s sequel series, which premiered in September 2026. The revival introduced Denise Huxtable’s son, Ellington, as a current Hillman student, and the season ended with a phone call from Denise herself, a deliberate cliffhanger that had fans hoping Bonet might finally reprise her iconic role.
But her former castmates aren’t optimistic. Cree Summer, who remains close with Bonet, told People: “That’s my sister. But I can tell you, even if I begged, I don’t think she would come back.”
Darryl M. Bell, who returns as Ron Johnson, added: “I think she has decided there’s a different path in life.”
Jasmine Guy simply called it “a cliffhanger.”
Bonet last reunited with the cast in 2006 for Nick at Nite’s “Hillman College Reunion Week” vignettes, where Denise offered a brief update: “After Hillman, I got married, had a baby, traveled some.”
What’s Next for Lisa Bonet
Bonet has not announced any upcoming acting projects. Her rare public appearances suggest she remains content with the life she’s built away from the cameras: raising her children, supporting their milestones, and occasionally stepping out for a fashion show that speaks to her.
For a woman who once defined a generation of television, the decision to walk away from it all may be her most radical act yet. And by all accounts, she has no regrets.
