Dayne Zorko has spent more than a decade building one of the most decorated careers in Brisbane Lions history, but away from the intensity of AFL football, his life revolves around his wife, Talia Zorko, and their growing family. The former Lions captain married Talia, formerly Talia De Marco, in an intimate Brisbane ceremony in October 2023 after the couple had already welcomed their daughter, Giselle.
Talia has largely maintained her own identity outside her husband’s football career, working professionally in event management while supporting Zorko through some of the biggest moments of his time with Brisbane. Their relationship has developed alongside a remarkable late-career period for Zorko, who has since become a two-time AFL premiership player and committed to extending his career into 2027.

Dayne and Talia married on October 21, 2023, at The Calile Hotel in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley.
The couple held their ceremony on the hotel’s rooftop, surrounded by family, close friends and several of Zorko’s Brisbane Lions teammates. Their wedding photographs showed the Brisbane skyline providing the backdrop as the newlyweds celebrated with guests.
The date became public when the pair shared wedding photographs accompanied by the simple announcement, “Mr & Mrs Zorko. 21.10.23.”
Their daughter Giselle, who was one at the time, was given the role of flower girl. Zorko’s older son Louis also played an important part in the ceremony as pageboy.
Several Lions players were among those celebrating with the couple, reflecting the friendships Zorko had formed over more than a decade at the club.

Zorko was still Brisbane’s captain at the time and spoke publicly about how much he enjoyed becoming a father again. He described returning home after demanding training sessions to spend time with Giselle, including feeding her and handling everyday parenting duties.
Talia also spoke warmly about watching Zorko develop his relationship with their daughter, describing the bond between father and daughter as particularly special.

He earned his second All-Australian selection in 2024, seven years after receiving his first, and became a premiership player when Brisbane won the AFL Grand Final that season.
The Lions repeated their premiership success in 2025, making Zorko a two-time premiership player late in a career that began with his AFL debut in 2012.
His longevity has become one of the defining features of his career.
Dayne Zorko Extends His Brisbane Lions Career
Zorko’s AFL journey is not finished yet.
In September 2026, Brisbane confirmed that the veteran had signed a one-year contract extension that will keep him at the Lions for the 2027 season. He will be 38 by the beginning of that campaign.
The extension gives Zorko another opportunity to add to a remarkable Brisbane record.
He has played more than 300 AFL games, kicked 240 goals, won the Lions’ Merrett-Murray Medal as club best and fairest five times and earned two All-Australian selections. He was also Brisbane’s leading goalkicker in 2016 and 2017.
By September 2026, Zorko was only five matches behind Simon Black’s Brisbane games record, creating the possibility that he could become the club’s all-time games leader during his newly extended career.
Family Life Away From the AFL Spotlight
For all the milestones attached to Dayne Zorko’s name, his life away from football has become increasingly centred on Talia, Giselle and Louis.
Talia has been alongside him during a period that included the end of his captaincy, a positional reinvention, All-Australian recognition and back-to-back premiership success. At the same time, the couple have largely avoided making their family life a constant part of the public spotlight.
