Ken Urker had one child: a daughter named Aurora Raina Urker, whom he shared with Gypsy Rose Blanchard. She was born on December 28, 2024, exactly one year after Blanchard’s release from prison.
Urker’s death on October 1, 2026, his 34th birthday, leaves Aurora without her father at just 21 months old. The child he called “my little girl” was the centerpiece of his final years, and his role as a father defined the last chapter of his life.
Who Is Aurora Raina Urker?
Aurora Raina Urker is the only child of Ken Urker and Gypsy Rose Blanchard. She was born on December 28, 2024, weighing in as a healthy baby girl.
Her birth date carried a striking coincidence: it fell on the one-year anniversary of Blanchard’s release from prison, where she had served eight years for her role in the 2015 killing of her mother, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard.
The name Aurora was chosen long before the couple ever conceived. Blanchard revealed that seven years earlier, she and Urker had each independently written down the name “Aurora” as their future daughter’s name, not knowing the other had chosen the same one. The name was inspired by their shared fascination with the aurora borealis.
Urker’s Joy as a First-Time Father
Urker embraced fatherhood with visible enthusiasm. In interviews following Aurora’s birth, he described the daily wonders of watching her develop.
“I love her to death, and every day I get to see her grow more and more,” Urker said. “Her eyes opening wider, her starting to develop a little social smile, it’s amazing”.
Blanchard praised his patience and growth. “It’s heartwarming to see him grow and mature through this process,” she said. “Watching him grow as a person and step into this mature role has been wonderful”.
He also claimed his own special parenting skills. “I got all the best burping techniques. I got the best calming techniques. I’m the one,” he said.
A Paternity Test and Legal Complications
Urker’s fatherhood was briefly complicated by legal questions. Because Blanchard was still legally married to Ryan Anderson when Aurora was conceived, a paternity test was required for legal reasons.
Urker never doubted the result. “I knew what the results were going to be all along,” he said. “We never had any doubts that it was gonna be our kid. We did the paternity test early to, you know, calm the mind or ease the minds of everyone else involved”.
Blanchard echoed his certainty: “I knew. I was like, ‘We’re having a baby.’ I mean, the timeline of everything, I knew who the father was the whole time”.
The prenatal DNA test officially confirmed Urker as Aurora’s biological father.
A Support Circle for Aurora
Blanchard and Urker relied on a close network of family to help raise Aurora. Blanchard’s half-sister, Mia, became Aurora’s godmother, and her nursing background in labor and delivery made her a valuable resource.
“We have a huge support circle,” Blanchard said, “and I think that Aurora is going to have a great life growing up”.
The couple also made a deliberate choice to keep Aurora’s face off social media. “For the first few weeks after she was born, the public was trying to get a photo of her by any means,” Blanchard recalled. “We are not posting her face on social media. We said that a long time ago”.
Looking Toward the Future
Before his death, Urker spoke about the day Aurora would inevitably learn the full story of her parents’ past. He said the family would navigate those conversations together.
“We have a plan. We’re gonna navigate that as a family, come together, have those conversations when she’s old to understand and maybe have some therapy in the mix too for all of us, her included,” he said. “I just know that with the connections that we all have and the family circle that we have that we’re gonna get through just fine as a family”.
Urker and Blanchard had also discussed a future wedding, with Aurora planned as the flower girl. That wedding will not happen.
What Comes Next
Aurora, who turned one in December 2025, now faces life without her father. Blanchard has vowed to ensure she grows up knowing who he was.
“She will grow up knowing how deeply her father loved her and who he was beyond what strangers on the internet chose to say about him,” Blanchard said.
