Taylor Hanson and his pro partner Britt Stewart were eliminated during Tuesday night’s “Yacht Rock Night” episode of Dancing With the Stars Season 35.
The Hanson frontman, 43, and Stewart performed a Foxtrot to “What a Fool Believes” by The Doobie Brothers. The judges scored them just 18 out of 30 points, placing them at the bottom of the leaderboard.
The Judges’ Feedback
Despite the low score, judge Derek Hough praised the performance. “Taylor, that was your best dance. It really was,” he said. “I see you taking on the notes. I see you holding that frame up. I see you gliding across the floor to really create that smoothness.”
Carrie Ann Inaba told Hanson he’s “very easy to watch” and has “lyrical movement,” but asked him to find more strength in his movements.
Who Else Was in the Bottom?
Hanson and Stewart landed in a three-way tie for the lowest score. They were joined in the bottom by Jackson Olson and Emma Slater, and Guillermo Rodriguez and Witney Carson.
When viewer votes were combined with judges’ scores, it was Hanson and Stewart who were sent home.
The Elimination Reactions
The couple were visibly shocked by the results but handled their exit with grace. “This has been everything, this has been incredible,” Hanson said. “She’s showed me things I didn’t think was possible and I’m so grateful for this time.”
Stewart replied: “Taylor, I am so grateful that I now have you in my life. Thank you so much for everything. You are amazing.”
Fans were equally heartbroken. One viewer wrote on Instagram: “Justice for Britt. She looked so defeated always getting shafted.” Another added: “It broke my heart seeing how this elimination affected Britt. It was written all over her face how heartbroken she was to be going this early. Not deserved at all.”
